Gujarat State Data Center
Overview
The Gujarat State Data Center (GSDC) is a secure and centralized Information Technology (IT) infrastructure established to host applications and data related to e-Governance initiatives at the state level. This facilitates the efficient delivery of government services across various sectors.
The GSDC holds the distinction of being the first State Data Center implemented in India under the National e-Governance Plan (NeGP). Established in 2010, it serves as a central repository for storing and managing all digital data, applications, and services pertaining to the Government of Gujarat.
The GSDC provides a shared platform encompassing:
- Compute Resources: Processing power for running applications.
- Storage: Secure storage for government data.
- Network: Reliable and secure network connectivity.
- Security: Robust security measures to safeguard government data and applications.
This shared platform empowers all departments within the Government of Gujarat to host their electronic data and services efficiently.
To effectively manage internet traffic, the GSDC is equipped with a high-speed bandwidth of 30 Gbps with redundancy, ensuring constant availability.
he Department of Science and Technology has further enhanced the GSDC's capabilities by incorporating a cloud-enabled environment. This enables them to provide Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) to various departments, Heads of Departments (HoDs), and government offices within the state. This essentially allows them to access and utilize computing resources on demand.
